TRAIL BLAZERS (Level 1) & TRAIL MASTERS (Level 2)

This combined Horsemanship and Trail Ride Camp will combine Horsemanship & Trail Riding Program for both Level 1 and Level 2 in the same week.

Level 1 will begin your association with horses. The goals you will work towards is to how to safety tie, groom, saddle and bridle, mount and ride a horse both in the arena and out on the trail. You will also be able to identify various parts of the horse and riding equipment. Level 1 Standard Horsemanship, you will aim toward controlling your horse at a walk and trot and learn the different trot positions. Level 1 Trail Program will teach you how to prepare for and enjoy a trail ride and how to secure your horse at a stopover.

Having passed Level 1 Standard Horsemanship, you have learned to safety ride your horse with some confidence. You can use the four aids to control your horse at the walk, trot, stop, circle and reverse. You have been introduced to approaching, haltering, leading, grooming and tacking up your horse. In Level 2 you will learn more about how the aids work and how to put them to better use. You and your horse will develop a unique partnership, as you better understand his nature and develop more balance.

In Level 1 Trail Horsemanship, you have learned how to prepare for and enjoy a safe trail ride and stopover. In Level 2, you will be taught how to plan, prepare for and enjoy an overnight with your horse. You will also learn how to face trail challenges that you may encounter.

TRAIL GUIDE and WRANGLER IN TRAINING (Level 3)

NOTE: Prerequisite LEVELS 1 and 2 or by interview and skills test.

Giddy Up!  We’re offering an excellent trail riding and instructional opportunity. You will ride well trained and responsive horses and you can learn how to interact with your horse for a meaningful riding and camping experience. This trail riding trip will be located in the West Branch State Park.  Besides making close friends, you and your assigned horse will become best buddies! You’ll cook dinner around the fire, sleep in hammocks and tents, and learn the basics in a variety of outdoor adventures.

DETAILS:


This class is limited to six campers per week. You will spend every day improving your waterskiing skills. You and five others will have your own private Camp Carl boat and instructor at West Branch State Park Lake. The skiing day will last from approximately from 9am til noon for 5 consecutive days. After lunch, you will be able to enjoy all the other activities that Camp Carl has to offer (Horseback Riding, Ziplining, Paintball, Swimming, ect..) All campers that participate in the Skiing Camp will be required to wear a long sleeve rash guard while on the lake.

Limited to 6 campers per week.

Minimum of 4 campers per week. Ask friends to join with you.

Is there an adventurer inside of you waiting to be released? Do you get excited about sleeping in a tent, climbing a towering rock or paddling down a river, but don’t have much experience? Base Camp could be just the adventure you’re looking for; consider it “Outdoor Adventure 101.” At Base Camp, you’ll participate in many of camp’s most exciting activities while spending your nights at our Outpost camping area. You’ll cook dinner around the fire, sleep in hammocks and tents, and learn the basics in a variety of outdoor adventures.
 
Half of the day will be spent like a normal camp week, while the other half you’ll learn about different skills for outdoor adventures. You’ll learn the basics of kayaking, climbing, backpacking, mountain biking and wilderness exploration without missing the major events taking place at camp that week. You’ll also get to test your new skills when you take on the Wilderness Survival Challenge.

Crew Camp is an opportunity to:

Leadership campers gain volunteer experience as they live and work at camp, handling the foundational aspects of camp maintenance, food service, luggage logistics, and other projects and learning what it means to truly serve with Christ as our example.

These weeks provide an unparalleled opportunity to grow spiritually through discipleship, in-depth inductive Bible study, daily quiet times, weekly extended time alone with God, worship, and life-changing messages.

This unique time away from the distractions of the world provides an environment ideal for developing meaningful, lasting friendships rooted in Christ as campers work, live, and play alongside like-minded campers.

Surrounded by the great outdoors, Leadership Crew campers have amazing opportunities to adventure and explore as they hike, kayak, swim, and participate in evening theme night games.

DETAILS:

All Leadership Crew campers can expect to learn valuable lessons in hard work, teamwork, camp operations, and facility maintenance. The Leadership Crew Team works under the direction of full-time Camp Carl staff, and plays a crucial role in the upkeep, appearance, ministry and outreach of Camp Carl. All necessary training is provided.

Limited to 10 campers per week.

Camp Carl will do a serving assessment for every Leadership Crew member after each week to help their personal development.
